Sucky day

Well, this may go down in personal
history as the most sucky day ever.

Yesterday right before dinner I put parrot
back in cage to hit the bathroom. Since
I'm just going to be a minute, I didn't
lock the door. A minute later Pam is yelling
at one of the German Shepards to "drop it".
Turns out the bird had opened his cage, climbed
down, and walked across the hall into the bedroom.
Where the shepard hanging out though he
found a new play toy. We get the bird back,
call the vet, and take the bird into the ER.
We find the bird has two puncture wounds, one
deep, is in shock, and Doc says it doesn't
look good. We leave the bird to get hydrated,
and treated for shock, the doc will operate
during the night when the bird is stable.
We ask to be called when there is news.
At about 2am we get a call, the bird had
stopped breathing during the operation, they
did CPR and the bird is breathing again, they
quickly sewed the bird up so he wasn't under
anestesia any longer than necessary. I can't
get back to sleep. At 3:30 we get a call,
the bird is dead. Pam and I start crying
our eyes out. After a while of this the
dogs start getting restless. King and Tango
start fighting in our bedroom. I grab Tango,
Pam grabs King. I get bit in the face by
Tango. Start bleeding like a stuck pig,
pam throws dogs into different rooms, drives
me to ER. X-rays show nose not broken. need
8 stiches in face to sew flap back on. Am
on percoset and some horse pill antibiotic.
Pam feels guilty as hell. Make arrangements
for Tango to be taken over by someone else.

I'm at home blotting bloody ooze off my face
every 45 seconds, wondering why the hell
I'm not sleepy.
