Economics of leaf raking
Nov. 20th, 2003 12:55 pmI didn't want to pay the "teenages" 300 bucks to rake my leaves (the ad left on my door saying neighborhood teenagers were looking to rake leaves turns out to be their father saying he and his three kids will rake my leaves for 10 bucks an hour each. No, I don't want to pay 40 bucks an hour for this guy to rake my leaves, assisted by his three young kids), but I take off a day from work to rake my own leaves. Which is less than 300 dollars, but not by *that* much. But I'll still get my full paycheck, since I'm burning a vacation day.
Vacation days are money in one way, but not money in another. Perhaps I can write an economics paper on it.
At least I think I finally fixed the leak in my bathroom, the new tile and new threshold aren't leaking at all.
