two dinners
May. 7th, 2006 12:22 pmFriday was pizza and a movie. MI 3. The start of summer blockbuster. Disengage brain and watch things go boom for two hours. Saturday was dinner and a play. First dinner at McCormick and Schmick, of which there just *may* be starting to get too many of them in the DC area. There are at least three, two of them within easy walking distance of the Warner Theater. Which where Pam and I were part of a group to see Rent.
reedrover had great ticket foo, and got us fantastic seats. Rounding out the group were
achaosofkittens,
meliapet,
scherzoid,
rdhdsnippet, and a friend of Reedrover's who I don't know if she lj'ed. Seeing a work the second time in a different medium is hard, it isn't fair to complain how the play isn't the same way it was in my favorite scene in the movie. I thought the play did a excellent job at showing the loneliness of Roger by having the actor remain seated at the table while action was taking place in different parts of the stage. I was pleasantly surprised at the vocal power of both Maureen and Mimi, although Maureen is much less of a sympathetic character in the play, she doesn't let Joann celebrate after the protest but makes her break down the sound equipment. Can I get anyone to strangle the bitch? By the end of the play I was passing tissues to both sides of me.
