un gold disking a computer

So I started gold disking (v2) computers as part of ditscrap. The first one went ok, but on the second I could no longer connect to secure sites with IE6. I found that GD makes the TLS1.0 box unchecked, and changing that meant I could get into some sites. Installing firefox 2 allowed me to get into sites that IE6 couldn't, and firefox then presented me with the "certificate unrecognized" window, accept cert perm, once only, ignore. I suspect that this is where IE6 is having a problem, even though the root certs seem properly installed. Does anyone have any sugguestions on what parameter GD may have changed that is causing this problem? Installing IE7 didn't help.
