I was at Glen Echo last night, fumbling my way through some tango steps, when I decided to dance with [livejournal.com profile] vvalkyri, whom I can usually dance better than average with. I did some crosses, then some oucho's (probably not spelling those correctly), then started some grapevines. I'd dome grapevines before in the context of folk dancing when I was in college (grumble, that's been 20 years now), so I could do the grapevines pretty easily. Vval and I started going in circles faster, and I suddenly realized that I had no idea of where we were in relation to the beat of the dance going on. So no matter that I was having fun doing what I was doing, what I was doing was BAD DANCING.

For the last 14 years I've spent about 5 minutes every other week writing
my hours into a sheet of paper, which I then sign, put in my boss's inbox,
which he then signs, and gives to the departmental secretary for her to do her secretary ju ju on.

We're switching to a brand new shiny computerized system for the next
pay period.

The manual is 157 pages long.

The web based portal program doesn't work on Macs. Or Linux. Windows only.

It takes about 8 minutes for my NMCI machine to log me on and bring up a web browser. Oh, I see much gnashing
of teeth over this. I can't NOT see this being a huge disaster.
