Gee, I get to go to Cerro Tololo observatory in Chile next month. That means in the last year I'll have made three observing runs in Flagstaff, and two in Chile. That's a lot of travel for the year.

You've no idea

how lucky I think you are to travel so much. I know it's work related - but I wish I had the opportunities you do. Enjoy

Do you get any time to play tourist?

On my way home Friday evening I discovered that I have "Premier" status with United Airlines and get preferential boarding privileges and upgraded seating. I have almost enough frequent flyer miles accumulated to upgrade a discounted round-trip ticket to Australia to Business Class. Once I get cleared to teach classes on my own I'll probably be traveling about one week a month.

Business travel is a mixed blessing/curse. It's not like going on a vacation with friends or family. While it can be fun to see new and different places, being away from home is disruptive and somewhat stressful. Flying long distances is boring and tiring, and going through so-called "security" is annoying. Separation from friends and lovers isn't fun.

Do come back and tell us all about it though!

Poor baby. Can I fit in your suitcase?

The new radiation would probably be bad for me. Ah, well. Although I suppose fitting in a suitcase has other possibilities.
