It had been awhile since I had seen [livejournal.com profile] blushing_grace so we made arrangements to meet for lunch today. Since she has a stricter clock policy at work than I do, I let her pick the place, and she emailed me this morning that we should meet at the Cosi's at 19th and M at noon. I was there a few minutes early, noticed that the Cosi's was down the block a bit, and walked over and waited patiently while enjoying the sunshine and people watched. At about six or seven minutes past noon my cell went off, and it was blushing_grace on the line. She asked me what my ETA was, and I said I was here, and what her ETA was (thinking there had been a last minute thing which caused her to run late). She then told me she was outside the main entrace of Cosi's. I look around and made sure a cute blondebrunette wasn't talking on a cell phone that I hadn't noticed, and then said "I'm at the Cosi's at 20th and M, where are you?" BG replied "19th and L!"

Two rational people, doing rational things, and we end up at different places to eat lunch. It wasn't *quite* as bad as the time that I waited at the top of a metro station for nearly a half hour for [livejournal.com profile] melebeth while she waited at the bottom of the metro station.

Ha! Sounds like the time I ran into a co-worker walking around in Clarendon and we mentioned that we each sometimes hang out at the local Starbucks [I don't drink coffee but their chai's not terrible, or I'll go there after hitting my favorite chai place and then get some Diet Coke] while working.

"Why haven't I ever run into you there?"

Turned out he meant the free-standing one which was in the building that used to be the Flying Dutchman muffler repair place, while I meant the one nestled inside the later-constructed Barnes & Noble [hurray for books + chai]. They're literally in the same *block*. :)
