Isn't it kind of a tirbute to times past..."times gone by" if you will?
I think it started as a Scottish tradition, and from what I can remember of looking into it in Highschool was that they don't know exactly how it became an American Tradition. I know Guy Lombardi used to sing it, but there were others before...hmm...And I'll admit, I know the first verse and chorus, and the last bit...I'm usually doing sommething I shouldn't between those two bits ;)
My mother is big into folk music and taught us the Scottish lyrics...I still can't remember the middle though...lol
Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind Should auld acquaintance be forgot And days o auld lang syne
For auld lang syne my dear for auld lang syne we’ll take a cup o kindness yet for auld lang syne
{insert rest of the lyrics here....}
And there’s a hand my trusty feere And gies a hand o thine And we’ll tak a right guide willy waught for auld lang syne
For auld lang syne my dear for auld lang syne we’ll take a cup o kindness yet for auld lang syne
