I'm used to all sorts of clocks not being right on the day we move into Daylight saving time. However it does seem weird that my GPS isn't showing the correct time, even though it shows me in the correct place.

1) Does it automatically switch timezones, or is this something you need to set? The GPS satellites broadcast GPS time (UTC without the leap-seconds) and may need to be told the local time offset.

2) Has the software been updated since Congress changed the dates for the switch to Daylight Savings Time?

Ours was wrong too - I just put the time forward an hour manually. I suspect dckermit has a good point about when the software was last updated though, at least in our case. I'd try updating it, if only I could remember to bring the GPS in from the car.

I'm guessing yours is an older model, and not updated since the DST changes of 2007.

That said, I'm in England were the change doesn't happen until the 30th. And I won't be here then. I suspect I am about to be very confused.

(Except I just put an alarm in my Palm for when I get back, so I should be fine!)

Its actually a new model, bought right before Christmas.

I haven't looked in the manual to see what switch needs to be thrown. Since it was just bought this christmas, it would be annoying if the database were off, but Congress can't stop messing with DST.

UTC without leap seconds is an oxymoron, :), but I agree, they broadcast leap secondless time.

I'm guessing it was manufactured, or its firmware was created, before the changes were ratified.

LOL...and here i was frustrated all last week because my GPS was an hour fast, depending on the Sat it picked up.
