I decided to take part in "unscheduled leave" today. With about six inches of snow out there,
I didn't want to be driving. So, who has been brave enough to venture
into work?

I fear no snow covered lanes!

I'm at work because my agency didn't give us the option of unscheduled leave.

Architect of the Capitol. We're operating under Normal Conditions which means get to work and be on time.

I did discover that when he loses traction, a little triangle light with an exclamation point in it comes on. Good to know.

Next year I'm getting knobbies and studs and will ride all winter!

The storm chased me up 95 and 83 last night on my way home from VA.
In York PA it started snowing in earnest at 5:40 this morning and by 9:30 there was 6 inches out side my office window. I’m loving the idea of driving my car home in the 13 inches projected to fall.

At 5 am I left the house to make my 45 minute commute to work... and discovered it was snowing out. I got on the road, and drove 30-40 miles per hour all the way down 270, turning my commute into a 1.5 hour commute. Got into work, emailed my boss and requested permission to pack it up and work from home. 1 hour later, I had that. Packed my stuff up, went out to the car, and spent 10 minutes clearing the almost 2 inches of snow that had built up on my car in that one hour, then started driving home.

The drive home ALSO took over 1.5 hours. The roads are hideous. There are 6 inches of snow on the ground in bethesdah and 3 inches on the ground in Frederick Maryland. As I understand it, there are 10 inches on the ground in Woodbridge Virginia. Damn near every school system in the metro region is closed.

I wouldnt say you were a wimp. I'd say you were a smart, smart man. I wish I had called out myself.

I got into work just fine, but it was really odd. The roads got worse and worse the further east I drove, which is completely opposite from my usual expectations.

By the time I got to the pause between Manassas and Centreville, I was wondering just what I was doing out there with the idiots who thought rear-wheel drive was a good idea.

I'm here. This is due to my amazing stubbornness skills.

I have a plane flight out of Dulles this afternoon. Maryland Shuttle says the roads are too nasty, but Washington Flyer said they'd come. Fingers crossed.

I echo that you're not a wimp. R is even home. The military said only essential personnel. For a medic like me that's no help, but for a comm guy, it's a free day of leave. He's snoozing on the couch next to me. :) I'm scheduled to be off today, but working tomorrow.

See, this is when you need neighbors like mine. They were out plowing the roads themselves with their tractors. ::smile::

I'll be in to work in about an hour, but I'll have my normal 8ish minute commute.

Of course, here it's only raining some, and right now, not even that.

I went in 2 hours late and came home an hour early.
