The bean counters at work have decided I need to have a linux certification, doesn't really matter which one. Since I don't want to waste time in a class, does anyone know who has a short class, or better yet just some place I can show up and take a test?

If you hear from anyone, would you let me know? I have a few people on my staff who would love to know this same info.

I write Linux device drivers. I port Linux to custom hardware designs. I teach Linux internals. These things I do professionally. My company's clients pay consulting rates for my expertise.

I have NO Linux certifications. None.

Does anyone wonder why I find this demand for certifications hysterically amusing?

Certifications are for making your manager happy.

In much the same way that you wear a sweater because your mother gets cold.

And generally, for your manager they are the way to make the business develop/HR people, who only want to keep the customer, who is paying the bills happy.
