I knew LoTR wouldn't get any major
award. I still feel like they
got ripped off. Ian should have
gotten Best Supporting Actor.

Not to take anything away from either Halle Berry or Denzel Washington, but there's been a fair amount of publicity the last week or two-even the last couple of years, about racial issues in Hollywood. So while they're both fantastic actors (I didn't see Monster's Ball, but I did see Training Day-not my kind of film, but not a bad movie either) I in part have to wonder if part of the reason they both got awards this year was reactionary. I think they both deserve to win (though maybe not for these two films-and as I didn't see all the films where people were up for Best Actor/Actress I can't rightly compare.)

As one of my friends said "i mean yes, they're both wonderful, and halle certainly deserved this year's oscar, but it seems like everyone was bending over backwards to prove that racism is a thing of the past."

(I feel guilty even posting it though. I wish they could be judged simply on their performances and nothing else, but I don't hold out a lot of hope for that happening any time soon.)

I just wanted more awards for LoTR. :)

Settle down there, Beavis, there's still two more movies to go which could pick up awards. ;)
