At the end of the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, the four main characters are of apparent age 20-30, and they find the lamppost, and then crawl back through the wardrobe into the professors house. When they emerge, they are back to their origional ages. In the books, when they next go through the wardrobe, are they young or middle aged?

Do you mean when some of the characters RETURN to narnia? Because yes, they go home in what I always interpreted as their mid 30's to 40's. Nobody ever gets to narnia after a certain age, and really rarely through the same door. Don't know how much you want me to say to avoid spoiling anything. :)

Having just re-read the series..

They regress to their young ages when they come back, but they seem to "age" quickly during their stay there to somewhere between their natural ages and their "narnia" ages when they go back.
