Pam and I were on the way home from the christmas holidays with my folks. At about 3pm [livejournal.com profile] vvalkyri got us on the cell phone, wanting to know if we were going to make the movie at the Drafthouse. I told her that I didn't think we'd be back in Virginia in time. At the time we were about 5 miles from the Delaware Memorial Bridge. For the next three hours we were in bumper to bumper traffic that magically ended at the *last* toll booth in Delaware. For three hours we moved at a pace I could walk, I shudder to think of the cost in man hours of the tens of thousands of cars/trucks on the roads, the entire traffic jam caused so Delaware could get three bucks a car to drive on the road the fed government paid to build.

I have no clue how bad the Tappan Zee was but with the road backed up to the Dewey Threwy i decided to take 87 north to 84 and skip trying to get to 684 coming back from Philly. That route had it's slow downs too but it never came to a dead stop. That was saved for the ticket we had to pick up to get on the Mass Pike.

Sorry you got hosed.
