51 in a 30 zone. Why no, Mr. Officer, I wasn't aware I was doing that.

Cops were out in force today, but I was still driving like a nimrod. A cop flashed his lights at me when I was driving a smidge over 85 in a 65. I feel blessed he then passed me. *grin*

OOF. I'd fight it. Though I'm 1-1 in ticket fighting, so maybe you shouldn't to listen to me.

Yeah, but 20 over might have landed you without a license (depending on how VA laws are written)

I know in Jersey (where I grew up, not sure what the laws are in NY, anything over 15 over and you run the risk of loosing your license (I think it was 20+ on the parkway/highways, but in-town it was 15)

Failure to obey a sign won't put points on your license. Reckless Driving (+20 over the limit) is 6 points/11 years if they want to really push it.

I'd pay the $87 and drop a few pennies to your favorite wishing well/saint/potted plant.

Sounds like we both did okay. :) I think my wearing a seat belt helped. But I stuck to only 10 miles over for the rest of the ride home. :)

Not quite... it's 6 points and *one* year...

The "11 years" is how long it stays on your driving record (most things disappear after 3 years).

IIRC, there's also a substantial fine (I want to say something close to $10K)

In addition +20 over in VA is a CRIMINAL offense. My one day fighting a ticket in FFx co court I saw a few reckless cases end with the offender escorted away in bracelets.
