The Taxi driver who took me from the airport to the Observatory dorm was fishing for more work, asking me if I needed to be taken for dinner. I told him yes, and asked to be picked up at 6. Upon being informed that restaurants in Chile open at 7:30 we compromised at 7. He drive me the 10 miles or so to a restaurant on a beach. I'm in La Serena, which is one of the provincial capitals. Very near by is the port town of Coquimbo, which also has a reputation of being the towns with the discos and where you go to have a good time. The restaurant the taxi driver took me too seems to be on the border of La Serena and Coquimbo. It has a very nice view of the pacific, and I took a few pictures of the full moon and of the sites that I don't know if they will come out. I had slightly more trouble with the menu than I had been having, but I did get a chicken and cheese crepe dish which was tasty without being the best meal in my life, but I'll call that a win. Once again the bread served before a meal was to die for. I had two Pisco sours, and I'm now doing the mating call of the sorority girl "I'm so drunk". I had my picture taken a few times by an effervescent drunk. He stayed about 15 feet away, and wasn't in my personal space, and said "Gracias" after every time he took a picture, so I figured it hurt nothing to not be offended. He was also drinking Chivas on the rocks, so I figured he had way more money than I do, and in situations like that, Let the Wookie Win.

This is very true.

We finally got rain last night/today. Yay for rain! (CK and I did a bunch of gardening yesterday, so timing is perfect.)
