A new world record

I'm well aware I'm becoming the sterotypical "absent minded scientist" as I age, but today I reached a new high. Or new low. I only buy cheap sunglasses because I lose them so often. Today at lunch I bought a new pair at CVS. It is now 1:50 pm, and I can't find them!

I got into work yesterday, and was talking to a co-worker while doing my usual settling in routine. In that routine, I took my glasses out of the case and put them on one side of my L-shaped desk so that I could brush and tie back my hair before putting the glasses on.

My attention was so focused on the conversation and not on what I was doing that I repeated the step of "open the glasses case to get out glasses" and completely FREAKED that I'd left my glasses at home.

... oops.
