Long day

Titania the Cockatiel is home safe. She spent the night in an oxygen tent to recover from loss of the red blood cells, and was given fluids to get her back to normal.

I went to Glenn Echo to learn Tango. Its a whole lot easier than I had thought it was. Thanks vvalkyri

Poor bird. What happened, do you know?

The bird fell off her perch (the bird has nerve damage from being egg bound when young) and we think the bird hit its head on something in the cage, causing it to bleed from its mouth. The bird lost a relatively large amount of blood, and appeared to go into shock. The vet put the bird in an oxygen tent overnight, and gave it fluids.

Yikes! I don't know a lot about birds, but it does seem like bleeding to death is a bad idea. I'm glad you found her soon enough.

Yes. Marc's Google presence is interesting -- usually when you find stuff as disparate as dance stuff, NASA stuff, psych stuff, Antarctica stuff, and quotes in Discover and Popular Science. . . . it's not all the same person.

I believe he's head of aerospace medicine at NASA.
