I went to bed last night knowing Pam wasn't feeling well. I could hear her praying to the porcelain goddess much of the night. At 5am she woke me to take her to the ER since she couldn't stop. Two IV's and two doses of anti-nausea medicine later, we returned home and slept out the day. They think it is a gall bladder issue, but that's something for Pam's GP to help figure out. Pam is ok as of now, at least as long as she refrains from eating fatty foods.

I really REALLY hope Pam is feeling better soon. The Flu Fairy visited the wife of a co-worker in much the same get-me-to-the-ER way. She spent about a week flat as a pancake.

Contrary to my icon, which I use for responses like this, I wish you healing and wellness soon.

Stomachs are dumb.

They're really quick to blame anything between the heart and the pussy on the gall bladder in "middle-aged white females," especially if they are carrying a few extra pounds. I ended up having mine removed because I had heartburn! You'd think they could diagnose heartburn correctly.

It sounds cold, but I hope it's just the flu and that she recovers quickly.

Just one add'l thought on this: the mere existance of gall stones does not mean the gall bladder needs to come out. Many of us would never even know they were there, if the docs didn't go looking for them. However, if that is the problem, you sure don't want to ignore it. Good luck with some tough decisions.

In the biz, it's The Triple-F: Female, Fat, Forty. And yes, it can be quite the catch-all. -sM

Ugh.. there seems to be a bout of gall bladder issues lately. One friend just had hers removed, another is about to have an ultrasound due to problems, and now Pam.

I hope she's feeling better soon!
