It is bad enough that people use im shorthand like how r u? in informal situations, but the
subject of an WORK email I just got was:

Re: U HAVE A PAPER TKT ..U MUST COME TO NNMC BETHESDA TO P/UP YR TKT

TKT?

WTF?

Please tell me this was emailed from someone's phone. There is just NO excuse for this in a professional environment otherwise.

I got the same sort of thing as a message from Verizon regarding my minutes limits.

We R Dum. Please treat us as imbeciles because we are too stupid to know how to write in reasonable, literate English.

If it were me, after you get the tickets, submit that as a complaint to their manager.

They want to act dumb, treat them as dum.

"I'm sorry, could you repeat/clarify this message?"

Was that the entirety of the message or was there more in the body? I wonder whether perhaps they were trying to cram as much as possible into the subject line.

I got an email response from a former SgtMaj of the Marines this morning that said "Thx"

This is a 60 something white man who says things like "whazzup, dawg?" on the phone at work.

Actually, its become a real serious problem in public education. Middle school kids are submitting entire papers written in this illiterate style. Imagine, an entire generation of illiterates. Its only going to get worse.
