I was involved with one of those water cooler type discussions over the storm and dang of the Iowa Caucases, and I realized how much my personal life and my work life can be different, cause I can say to almost any of my friends "Obama now has lots of shiny New Relationship Energy" and they'd know what I mean, but I strongly suspect that if I said that to my cow-orkers I'd get a reply of "Buh?". Not that I'm about to experiment and find out . . .

I'm guilty of using the word "safeword" in front of my coworkers, but I suspect they've given up paying too much attention to what I say, out of sheer self defense.

There was a drunken college boy (of the improperly socialized geek variety, and I mean that in the bad way) at the New Year's party I attended. I had many reasons to take a dislike to him, but the earliest was when I heard him ask "Poly? What the hell is poly?", which I think was also reason enough to wonder what the hell he was doing at the party in the first place.

I don't think NRE is a bad thing to mention. I talk about "fuzzy happy bunny stage" in regards to everything from starting to read a new author to watching newly-engaged.
