I was blown away by the visual effects on Avatar in the 2d version. Any advice as to if the 3d version is worth the money?

I really liked it, but haven't seen 2d to compare.

I found the 3D version of the movie to be very immersive, and think it was worth my dollars. I've not seen the 2D version, though. But, were I to want to watch it again on the big screen, I'd aim for 3D or 3D IMAX.

Which is what I saw. It was glorious in 3D IMAX (plot aside), but again... no 2D to compare to.

Agreed! Immersive is a fantastic word that describes it. I want to be immersed again! Never saw 2D, though, so nothing to compare it with...

I even enjoyed the little tricks they did with the sub-titles. As far as 3D movies go, this one, I believe, really used the technology to dramatic effect instead of just for shock or wow effect.

I really can't imagine sitting through it in 2d.

It was so stunning and vivid, at one point I had to restrain myself from reaching out to touch it. :-)
