long day

Left the house about 9am, spent the full day in company of the inlaws, saw a nice baseball game (Nats win, yea!), got rained on twice, dinner at M&S Grill. Home about 9pm, with the new AC part of the new furnace and AC working fine.

Is it polite to stuff a dinner roll in the mouth of a cousin who, during a discussion of what do do with a whiny kid in a restaurant, says to Pam "Oh, but if you had kids of your own you would know ....."

I prefer you go with your original impulse and bean her across the table with the aforesaid dinner role, thanks. That said, you, my beloved husband, deserve something very special for taking care of my inlaws tomorrow morning, thus giving me some much needed and very valuable decompression time. I love you so much! I am so very grateful to you. What should I do to show you just HOW much I appreciate what you're doing. Do our friends out there have a suggestion? Maybe we need a clicky...?

Sign me up as a parent who doesn't believe that non parents shouldn't say something when a kid is being a whiny little pain in the butt. You don't have to be a parent to know that is annoying and disruptive, and perhaps not being a parent provides you with some new insight on how to mitigate the issue in an original manner. Lots of parents get stuck in the rut of "I tried these things and they didn't work, so let's just let him [fill in totally annoying behavior here]. In my humble parenting opinion, letting the child get away with it, whatever it may be, is unacceptable, and sends exactly the wrong message to the kid about public behavior. So there!
