Well, I knew it was open season for Fed employees, I just didn't know it was open season ON Fed employees.

Bye bye raises for two years (at least).

We didn't get any last year. I haven't heard anything specific this year, but at least 2 different departments have been told already no raises next year. 'Love' their communication skills.

From what I've read - there's no COLA - Fed employees will still get step raises.

Assuming you were scheduled for step raises in that time, which many are not.

Ayup, but isn't total suck for everyone.

Mostly, it is economic theater (sort of like security theater) - the savings are approximately $2B or one day's operation of the DOD.

Mostly it is sterotyping civil servants as over paid, under worked, bureacrats who deserve to be fired, a lot of that coming from Tea Partiers.

Or like me and many others are already topped out w/in their pay ladder (e.g. step 10) -- haven't had a raise in 5 yrs. Now no COLA either....and I took a pay CUT to turn gov't, so am actually farther behind than if I had stayed a contractor
