I was amused, however, to see that there are asteroids called Potato, Arthurdent and TARDIS.
Since apparently there are asteroids called Okhotsymskij, Zdvyzhensk and Eyjafjallajokull. I think Potato is probably not at the top of the pronunciation worries, LOL.
Wikipedia calls it a "minor planet", but since even Pluto isn't a planet these days I'm guessing that's rather like calling Gaithersburg "North Potomac". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/88705_Potato
The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (which I worked on) has discovered about 270 asteriods. The list of authors is within about 10% of that, so each author on the first data paper has been given the option of having an asteriod named after them.
