Of course its a rule....just not a math or physics one. Its the Parallel Universe Sock Rule.

Buy new socks. ::grins:: That's what I do when I start having socks with holes in them. I also buy black cotton men's crew socks, in six packs. That way they last longer (than women's socks) and they're all mix and match.

I can recommend the Gold Toe variety. They may be a bit more expensive, but they last way longer than any others I've found, without either developing holes or losing elasticity to the point they fall down.
