Work has a task that needed to be done. I wasn't assigned to do it. The person who was assigned to do it told me ealier in the week that she had gotten a data dump from a vendor, and needed to prepare a presentation to management within 24 hours, and asked me to do the task. I went to Goddard  yesterday and finished the task.

I don't know if i should be annoyed at her for not being able to do her assigned task, or glad since I now know that the task was done correctly.

So wait a minute. The task was assigned to someone else, who then asked you to do it? If that's the case, I hope that whomever assigned that person the task knows exactly what happened, and that you receive credit and feedback on the task. Go you for getting good work accomplished under a tight deadline.

If you're wondering whether to be annoyed, skip being annoyed. If you weren't prevented from doing anything important from your own list of assigned tasks, just consider that you pitched in and helped when someone needed help, and hope that when you're snowed under, someone will pitch in and help you.

Personally I'd probably have been appreciative of being given a head's up that my help was needed early in the game, and not slammed at the last minute. It actually sounds like the more responsible thing for the coworker to have done, unless they should have gone through a manager/higher up of some sort for work load balancing.

I agree that you shouldn't convince yourself to be annoyed if you're not. :)
