King has a habit of putting "his' toy in a food bowl, to indicate that it is his bowl, and Sierra shouldn't eat out of it. Given how they swap toys back and forth, I don't know how Sierra is supposed to know that it is King's toy, but that's for the dogs to work out.

Last night, right before bed, I brought the various glasses and such to the dishwasher, and found that I had left the dishwasher door open. King had placed a toy on the dishwasher door.

Great, now he not only claims the pantry, but claims the dishwasher as well?!?

It's all about dog spit. Sierra should be know that the toy has King spit on it and, therefore, leave the food in the dish. And, as far as the dishwasher, he was claiming rights to lick everything clean before you added soap to sanitize. You were smart enough not to go licking King's dishes before you ran the dishwasher weren't you? It's all about dog spit. -sM
