I planted some bulbs a few years ago. I don't remember what they are. But I think they are pretty.

Yay happy gladiolus! Deer don't usually eat those, either.

I'd be very surprized if a deer could get to them.

I was going to say that those are very healthy-looking gladioli, but I see the Goat Lady beat me to it :)

I used to grow those back in the UK and found they often get tall and top-heavy enough to benefit from staking. The skinny little 3' green stakes are enough.

Oh, yes, if I don't stake them they fall over. Seems poor evolutionary design.

I suspect plant breeders had more to do with it than evolution. Breed for bigger, showier flowers and to hell with whether the stalks can hold them up.
