So, it looks like I need to teach myself Bayesian statitics. Joy.

ime it's not the formulas of Bayes that are the problem, particularly if you're used to physics. the real dull drudgery is calculating all the prior probabilities to feed into the formulae. if someone's going to give you the data then you're good to go.
