Anyone have a suggestion for a nice place to get lunch near Farragut North that won't break a budget?

Does the world need "Starship Troopers 4"? I'd say not.

Have you heard about Perry's three point plan to shrink government? Neither has he! *rimshot*

Maybe he can borrow one of Obama's teleprompters.

All hat, no cattle.

I filled out a leave request for all my use or lose, figuring that i'd work about half the month, and take the rest off, and that way i can get the leave restored. My boss walked into my office with the weirdest expression on his face, and he asked 'Did you mean to ask for leave for the ENTIRE MONTH of December?" I had no choice but to look at him straight in the eye and say 'Yes'.

So, at the supreme court yesterday there was a case argued about the appeal of a convicted murderer. The man found guilty wanted to appeal due to ineffectual counsel. His attorney let the deadline pass without filing the paperwork.

I would think that the attorney blowing the deadline to file would sorta be one of the definitions of 'ineffectual counsel', but I'm obviously not Scalia.

Why do I find it unsettling that an astronomer younger than I am won the Nobel Prize?

I'm not sure this will work, but since I'm not currently a paid member, i can't upload pictures, so I put my pictures on flikr. This is my first time at trying this, so excuse me if I screw up.

I did the Navy Federal 5k Fun run in vienna today. finished 301'st, with an time from the gun of 34min 24sec. The real time will probably be about 30 seconds faster, since they take off the time you spend milling around the start gate.

HEXAGON (KH-9) Viewing Opportunity, One Day Only
Newly Declassified Satellite
Saturday, September 17
10:00 am to 5:30 pm
Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center
Admission: Free, Parking $15

The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum and the National
Reconnaissance Office are hosting a one-day-only viewing opportunity of the
newly declassified HEXAGON (KH-9) satellite in the parking lot of the Steven
F. Udvar-Hazy Center. This is the first time the public will be able to view
this impressive spacecraft, and it will be the only opportunity to see it in
the Washington area for some time.

Sixty feet long and 10 feet in diameter, the HEXAGONs were the largest spy
satellites the United States has ever placed in space. The satellites took
photographs of the Soviet Union and other targets around the world from 1971
to the early 1980s.

The one-day display is in conjunction with the NRO???s 50th anniversary
celebration.

Went to Faire today with Pam and the next door neighbor's kid. Did the standard, watched glass blowing, a show or two, watched the Mideavel baebes (its so embarassing when one forgets the lyrics), eat meat on a stick, avoided the fried sugar, watched Interpreters from the White Heart pub. Saw Picsty, Melissa, Chris, Cathy, Michelle, Steven, Marda. Time to fall down go nap.

Today I received the following "sugguestions" from Amazon:

* Ghost Ship (Liaden Universe)
* Saltation (Liaden Universe)
* Korval's Game (Liaden Universe)
* The Dragon Variation (The Liaden Universe)
* Mouse and Dragon (Liaden Universe Novels)
* Kris Longknife: Daring

I like to think I'm more widely read than Amazon gives me credit for.

I was driving on Route 50 from Goddard to work, didn't notice a thing. I had wTOP on so I knew about it, but I can't prove there was an earthquake from what I saw. At least I got the afternoon off.

While reading the Wash Post at lunch I read a very small story about a local NJ politician resigning after nude pictures he sent someone hit the press. Not all that newsworth these days, but the guy used to live across the street from me, and I knew him since I was about 5 years old.

Has anything good ever come of sending nude photos from a cellphone?
