She's done having her gall bladder removed, and looks fine. She had an asthma attack on the table, which ended up with her having a tube shoved down her throat, but she is looking better than I had expected. She's downstairs talking with a friend rather than collapsing immediately into bed.

The gall bladder basically is a storage container for bile, produced by the liver, delivered to the small intestine. When it gets gall stones it doesn't do its job properly, so they remove it, and the bile flows directly. That can cause some issues with digestion, but generally less problems than with dealing with the stones.

My father and grandmother both had theirs removed. What I learned from watching that was that gallstones are insanely screamingly painful. Lack of a gall bladder requires some diet management but generally isn't associated with pre-operation levels of intense pain.
