While getting ready for brunch today, Pam complained that she had an ear worm of "You are my Sunshine", and she commented that she would do *anything* to be rid of it. I put on a you tube video of Beaker doing "Ode To Joy". Even though I got rid of the ear worm she had she didn't thank me.

You're a lot nicer than I am. My default cure for someone else's song virus is "Seasons In The Sun." Mostly because I like it, and I'm immune to song viruses.

I'll see your "Seasons In The Sun," and raise you "Mamas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys."

I do not think that "Mamas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys" is as nearly as effective, nor as universally reviled, as is "Seasons In The Sun." For instance, I, personally, couldn't quote hardly any of the lyrics to Mamas, and couldn't remember 'em even if they were sung at me, either, but most people can be started off on Seasons In The Sun with the mere phrase, "We had joy, we had fun, we had ..." and that's all you need.

Sadly, it is much less effective now than it once was, because the newer generations weren't really exposed to it. I don't actually want to know what they find as effective, though. Possibly "What If God Was One Of Us" might work for some.

Certainly not as universally reviled, no. "Seasons in The Sun" would never be effective for me because I'm unable to retain even a second line after "we had joy, we had fun." To each his own.

That song really has one of the most boring choruses ever written, sung in such a dull monotone it puts me to sleep. Ugh!

You're lucky you also don't get stabbed.

He also doesn't mention that he didn't technically get RID of the earworm, he only replaced ONE with the OTHER. And he only didn't get stabbed because he escaped before I found my glasses. LOL

Could have been worse...

He could have played Judy Garland singing "Over the Rainbow".

Yes, that would do it. I HATE Wizard of Oz. Any jury in America would buy justifiable homicide. LOL

No, sadly. I had a largely atni-social weekend, so Sunday evening I was on a long walk, socializing with the local deer more than anything else. My get-out-and-do-stuff tends to dry up in the summer. Next month?

It was an option in the Mabilo Ringtones app. (I have a Droid.) I really wanted the Swedish Chef & Beaker's "Habenero", but it wasn't available.

Aww. :)

There are much cheaper (and more nefarious) ways of making ringtones from YouTube videos.

Less cheeky: I really do love my Droid Incredible and all its whiz-bang coolness.

Is that information you're willing to share with technodolts?

Sure!

Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the converter I have on my home computer for ripping songs from Youtube videos, but I did find a handy tutorial and one-stop-shop converter on this site. The url says "smartphones", but it looks like it will support any phone that can handle personalized ringtones. Good luck!

hahaha! That's great. I really need a ringtone but I can't decide one. That's cause I think Greg and his "Emperor's March" absolutely rocks.

I got You are my sunshine in my head cause I caught the end of the strangely entertaining O Brother Where Art Thou? on TV the other night. It terrifies me how much I identify with the south as portrayed in that movie.
