While getting ready for brunch today, Pam complained that she had an ear worm of "You are my Sunshine", and she commented that she would do *anything* to be rid of it. I put on a you tube video of Beaker doing "Ode To Joy". Even though I got rid of the ear worm she had she didn't thank me.

You're a lot nicer than I am. My default cure for someone else's song virus is "Seasons In The Sun." Mostly because I like it, and I'm immune to song viruses.

I'll see your "Seasons In The Sun," and raise you "Mamas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys."

I do not think that "Mamas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys" is as nearly as effective, nor as universally reviled, as is "Seasons In The Sun." For instance, I, personally, couldn't quote hardly any of the lyrics to Mamas, and couldn't remember 'em even if they were sung at me, either, but most people can be started off on Seasons In The Sun with the mere phrase, "We had joy, we had fun, we had ..." and that's all you need.

Sadly, it is much less effective now than it once was, because the newer generations weren't really exposed to it. I don't actually want to know what they find as effective, though. Possibly "What If God Was One Of Us" might work for some.

Certainly not as universally reviled, no. "Seasons in The Sun" would never be effective for me because I'm unable to retain even a second line after "we had joy, we had fun." To each his own.

That song really has one of the most boring choruses ever written, sung in such a dull monotone it puts me to sleep. Ugh!
