Does this qualify as irony?
Dec. 19th, 2011 10:42 amMy workday commute has been adversely affected for well over a year due to the construction of HOT lanes on 495, construction has slowed traffic from I66 onto I495. Saturday the new "flyover" lane opened, and instead of one lane of traffic, the new flyover allows two lanes of traffic, which might speed things up. So, today on my first attempt of using the new bridge, with a hope of a perhaps shorter wait, traffic was all backed up, due to an accident on the new flyover lane. *sigh*

Date: 2011-12-19 03:58 pm (UTC)I'm on that same stretch every morning, except I'm already on the outer loop at 66 where you get on. Last week, I was mildly hopeful about the ease in congestion when they announced the new 'flyover' lane.
The bitch of it for me? We squeeze down to 3 lanes just before 66 now to make way for your merging of that new flyover on-ramp.
Yay. not.

Date: 2011-12-19 04:49 pm (UTC)... or at least it did until this morning, when everything had changed so that the new ramp into the city is now on the *left* and northbound 295 is on the *right*! There are GIANT orange highway signs for the new traffic pattern overhead, which I did not see because I was too busy looking at cars in the actual roadway while trying to get across traffic. So, I told my co-workers I got lost on the way to work today. :)
